Alumnus

After studying medicine at Utrecht University and working at the cardiology department of the Meander medical center in Amersfoort as a doctor not in training, I started my PhD in March 2018 at the UMCG. The nice atmosphere in our department made me easily feel at home. I am working in the Ischemic and Translational Cardiology research group, mainly  focusing on clinical studies with patients with myocardial infarction. I am coordinating the GIPS-IV trial, which gives me great opportunity to develop clinical skills like echocardiography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging next to my research activities.

Current activities

My PhD mainly involves the GIPS-IV trial, in which the efficacy and safety of sodium thiosulfate on myocardial infarct size is evaluated and compared to placebo in patients presenting with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. Furthermore, I focus on several laboratory and imaging parameters post myocardial infarction.

My projects

GIPS-IV trial

Preservation of myocardial function after myocardial infarction
