Bao-Oanh Nguyen

Bao-Oanh Nguyen attended medical school at the University of Maastricht. During her Master of Medicine she engaged in clinical research at the department of cardiology. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2016 and gained experience as a clinical doctor at the cardiology department. Since 2017 she started a PhD in cardiology under the supervision of professor Isabelle van Gelder and professor Michiel Rienstra. Her main research topic is to elucidate the pathophysiological mechanisms of atrial fibrillation progression, prevalence and predictors associated with cardiovascular outcome.

Current activities

Bao-Oanh is coordinator for multicenter studies RACE 3 and RACE V. Her main projects are: (1) studying treatment of underlying risk factors of atrial fibrillation and its effect on sinus rhythm maintenance and (2) studying atrial fibrillation progression in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation with continuous rhythm monitoring.
