Temporal patterns and short-term progression of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation: data from RACE V

RACE V was started in 2015 to investigate progression of atrial fibrillation by using implantable loop recorders or pacemakers.
On this first analysis 202 patients with paroxysmal AF were followed with continuous rhythm monitoring  for a period of 6 months. The temporal patterns of atrial fibrillation and atrial fibrillation burden were evaluated in order to assess progression.
This interim analysis resulted in the first RACE V paper after nearly 5 years of work.

Examples of patients with short (A), intermediate (B), and long (C) episodes during 6-month follow-up, registered with ILR.
