Martijn Hoes received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences (2011), followed by Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (2013) from Maastricht University, focusing on Developmental Biology and Epigenetics. Subsequently, he started as a PhD candidate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Peter van der Meer at the University Medical Center Groningen. His research focuses on in vitro disease modeling using iPSC generation techniques and various differentiation techniques. Martijn has defended his on the 20th of March, 2019 and is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher in the lab of Prof. Dr. Peter van der Meer.
Martijn is currently studying the metabolic abnormalities that occur during peripartum cardiomyopathy (part of STOP-HF) and in the hearts of diabetic cardiomyopathy patients (part of PROMINENT MSCA Cofund).
