Neda Khalilian Ekrami

PhD Student

Neda Khalilian Ekrami received her MD in 2016 from AZAD University of Medical Sciences, Tabriz, Iran. After moving to the Netherlands, she has been working as a researcher in department of epidemiology and has been engaged in research projects as a component of the UMCG-wide UGLI initiative and Lifeline. In 2020 she started her PhD fellowship under the supervision of professor Isabelle van Gelder and professor Michiel Rienstra at the Department of Cardiology, UMCG, The Netherlands. She is part of the RACE V team doing research on Atrial Fibrillation (AF). Her aim is to study predictors of AF progression from paroxysmal AF to permanent AF, sex differences, the role of heart failure in AF and randomized trial investigating how to improve outcome in different groups of AF patients.
